Dr. Vinoja Kamaleswaran grew up in Mississauga and received her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo.
Her training included an ocular disease rotation in Pinellas Park, Florida where she gained exposure to various ocular diseases with an emphasis on glaucoma treatment and management. She has also completed primary care rotations within Ontario that have expanded her training in comprehensive eye care for all ages.
During her time at Waterloo, she served as a trustee for the American Optometric Student Association and has been involved with fundraising initiatives for Optometry Giving Sight, an organization that is dedicated to improving eye care in underprivileged communities. She has also participated in a mission trip to Haiti in 2017 to provide optometric care and hopes to do more trips in the future.
Dr. Kamaleswaran believes strongly in patient centred care and strives to educate her patients to be involved in the treatment and management of their conditions.
